Michigan Hot Rod Association Bearing Burner’s Auto Show, First Place, Sterling Heights, Michigan

The one that started it all. This 1970 Beetle was purchased, restored and given as a gift to the owner’s father-in-law who had a passion for VW Beetles. After 3 years of passing by the car in the “thumb” of Michigan, the owner was finally convinced to sell the bug. Before driving the car to Tennessee (where the in-laws lived), John entered the car into the 2006 29th Annual Michigan Hot Rod Association Bearing Burner’s Auto Show at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where it earned First Place in its class. An attendee at the show saw John’s work and hired him to paint his 1956 Beetle. The rest is history.
